Training Workshops for Teachers
SCHOOL HOLIDAY COMPUTER COURSE
Bubble Dome offers teachers the opportunity to take part in workshops on 3D computer modelling and animation, image manipulation, special effects and computer programming. The next two day course willl be held at Epsom Girls' Grammar, Auckland, on April 30th to May 1st. The cost for the two day course is $345 + GST, which includes registration, free resources, morning and afternoon tea each day. The course content is listed below.
Day One
Workshop One
This workshops provides an introduction to Bryce 3D. It will show you how to master the concept of working within a 3D environment and understand how to navigate around a 3D space, while exploring the endless possibilities of using this exciting software for use in your own classrooms.
Workshop Two
This workshop gives you an introduction to Blender. Learn the terminology associated with this amazing piece of software while you master the interface operation and the potential behind all the different tools on offer. Today’s lesson will show you the foundations of 3D computer model-making, allowing you to create basic characters that you can continue developing into more complex models.
Workshop Three
The first Photoshop workshop will focus on learning how to create interesting images using tools for manipulation and special effects. You will have lots of fun in this workshop morphing photographic images while learning how to use new tools that will enrich your students’ learning.
Day 2
Workshop One
This workshop provides you with the opportunity to develop more advanced skills using software introduced yesterday. The options are as follows:
Advanced Blender – Explore some new 3D modelling techniques and also learn about the basics of character animation using Blender.
Advanced Photoshop – Learn how to put a scene together applying some new special effects that will help you to create atmosphere and a sense of perspective.
Workshop Two
This workshop provides you with the opportunity to either develop more advanced skills in Bryce or learn the basics of computer programming with squeak. The options are as follows:
Advanced Bryce: Learn how to enhance your scenes by modelling more complex shapes and architectural forms using different techniques.
Introduction to Squeak: This programming language has been designed for students as a fun way to learn object oriented programming.
Workshop Three
High-level Thinking Skills and Computers
This unique workshop shows you how to develop high-level thinking skills using the computer as a tool for problem-solving and idea creation. Learn how to add an intrigue to your lessons that will really appeal to your students. This workshop combines theory and practical, allowing you a chance to experiment with the concepts yourself first hand. You will find this an invigorating workout for the mind!
TEACHERS' HIGH LEVEL THINKING WORKSHOPS
Bubble Dome also offers workshops for teachers to train them in techniques for extending their gifted and talented students, or those students wanting to improve their lateral thinking. Teachers are taught strategies for developing their students’ lateral thinking and high level thinking skills.
